An exclusive portrait of the iconic Anglo-American actress Elizabeth Taylor painted by Andy Warhol in 1963. This 40″ by 39″ picture was being sold by a private American buyer who has owned it for more than 20 years.
The artwork, titled ”Silver Liz,” was expected to sell for between £6 million and £8 million and went to an anonymous bidder for £6,761,250, including buyer’s premium. Taylor was something of a muse for Warhol. He once said in an interview: “Ohhhh, Elizabeth Taylor, ohhh. She’s so glamorous.”
