The $275,000 gold coin gown

By counting the number of gold coins hanging on an open-necked mermaid-line gown and on two men’s jackets, it makes one wonder whether gold coins are available at throwaway prices. However, one is woken up from the stupor when one hears the prices of the apparel - a 30 million yen (US $275,000) gown of gold coins and 127 million yen for two men’s jackets. The gown is festooned with hundreds of gold coins weighing a whopping 8 kg.

The exhibition of the designer gown and jackets flaunting gold coins was the grandiose way the Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewellery K.K decided to commemorate the Vienna Philharmonic. However, one might wonder the practicability of designing an 8 kg gown that its displayer model, Mayuka acknowledged was too heavy for her to move comfortably. Though the gold-coin gown is not up for sale for the time being, some super rich woman might adorn her wardrobe with it in some time in the future.
