The diamond was given its color through a high pressure/high temperature technique created by Sundance Diamonds.

It is now going on sale during the Tzoffey’s 1818 auction taking place during the International Colored Gemstone Association Congress in Dubai. The diamond the largest fancy intense or vivid color enhanced pink in the world and will go on the block May 9. The auction is significant because enhanced diamonds aren’t often sold at auctions or expected to bring high prices. The Provo Rose is a 58-facet round diamond with VS2 clarity and is now set in a platinum pendant surrounded by 0.77 cts. of diamond. The auction also includes a heart-shaped natural fancy pink diamond weighing 2.33 carats as well as lots of pearls, sapphires, rubies and other colored diamond jewelry.
