An exclusive luxury hotel in Russia is selling bottles of most expensive champagne that have sat on a seabed for over 80 years. Over two hundred bottles of 1907 vintage champagne are on sale at the Carlton Ritz in Moscow for £156,000 a bottle. The bubbly had initially been sent to the Russian Royal family in 1916 by the Heidsieck vineyard.
The Carlton Ritz Hotel, which charges over £10,000 per night for a room, bought all the bottles and they are now seen as the “ultimate show-off” drink for millionaire businessmen. It was recently reported by the Mirror that a champagne which retails in supermarket Waitrose won the over £10 category of the champagne vintage Decanter World Wine Awards 2008. The £24.99 a bottle beverage beat competitors which cost almost 30 times more. Via:  bornrich |
