MINI Palais restaurant in Paris beautified for $1.5 million

Here’s a new joint to hit the weekend for a drink, the MINI Palais restaurant. Although it has opened it’s doors this summer (2007) in a wing of the “Grand Palais“, this is restaurant is a rather unique experience.

But don’t be disillusioned if you don’t find any MINI there. However there are two Union Jacks, a few posters, and clocks that resemble MINI IP’s. Ideally meant for warmer days, this summer terrace is complete with baccarat light fixtures and faux croco walls. The menu is by gilles choukroun (of the angl’opera restaurant), and serves up salads, sandwiches, and little plates. But what struck me about this place is that the Groupe Luderic, an events company, paid $1.5 million to renovate an area of the Grand Palais (a museum) in order to create the MINI Palais restaurant.

So next time you stop in Paris for a day or two and want to have a dining experience on terrace (hopefully in summers) then do drop in at MINI Palais. Here’s the official address – MINI PALAIS au Grand Palais Perron Alexandre III Avenue Winston Churchill 75008 Paris.
