Cartier has held a fascination with the Orient since the early 1920s, interpreting China’s messages in its Art Deco creations. Exceptional Dragon Décor Collection desk set features the Chinese mythological dragon throughout the entire series that includes pens, desk clocks, jewelry boxes, and table lighters. A poetic décor of clouds glides through the body and cap of midnight blue lacquer; this motif is continued on the sterling silver trim at the cap end, where cloud swirls are etched into the precious metal. A palladium-finished sterling silver dragon, in full glory of sculpted details, climbs the cap, viewing the 5 pearls set into the pen’s body with his pure emerald eyes. A mother-of-pearl cabochon is set into the body’s end. The luxury collection includes a solid-gold Red Dragon limited edition fountain pen that was inspired by a 1920s Cartier lipstick case. The pen is encrusted with 522 diamonds totaling almost four carats. The most expensive item in the collections is a rock crystal and onyx mystery clock resting over a ruby-eyed golden dragon figurine. The Dragon desk set ranges from $200,000- $640, 000.
