Famous South African jewelry designer Yair Shimansky created full-sized Diamond encrusted soccer ball devoted to the opening of the FIFA World Cup held from June 11 until the final on 11 July. Dazzling soccer ball is studded with 6,620 white diamonds and 2,640 black round brilliant cut South African diamonds with a total weight of 3500 carats. Shimansky soccer ball weighs around 2,2 kilograms (4.8 pounds).
“It took about three months from conception of design to manufacture of the first crystal soccer ball,” says Michele Meyer, Marketing manager for Shimansky. Aside from the ball, Shimansky has also created a 9.3 carat World Cup dome ring worth nearly $16,000 and a pair of silver commemorative World Cup cufflinks worth $129. Price: over $3 million.
