Supermodel Kate Moss has been immortalized in gold. British artist Marc Quinn has immortalized her famous face and figure as a solid-gold statue named Siren. The artist says this is the largest statue made of gold since the time of Ancient Egypt and the value of the life-size sculpture is more than $18 million. The 50kg statue will be displayed in the British Museum with the Greek goddesses.

The statue will be part of a group of major sculptures by leading British artists to go on display at the museum in October, the museum announced. Quinn described the statue: “I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who’s the ideal beauty of the moment. But even Kate Moss doesn’t live up to the image.” The exhibition, entitled Statuephilia, will also feature 200 plastic skulls by Damien Hirst, and is expected to run from October 4 through January 25, 2009.

A month without Kate Moss on the cover of a magazine is no fashion month. This month Kate covers Purple Fashion magazine. Of course the boldness in the picture is really no reflection on the supermodel because honestly of her own pose, facial expression and even her outfit look really run of the mill.

The nude bespeckled male model, however, garners all the attention here in a very escort agency-ad kinda way but hey at least he’s bringing some excitement to the otherwise dead pose! I was hoping women get in touch with their feminine side and learn to stand up without that dominatrix air. Does this picture work for you?

The secret of eternal youth is no doubt at the top of Madonna’s 50th birthday wish list which she celebrates on Saturday. As a gift for her birthday husband Guy Ritchie agreed to try adopt another child, a 3-year-old Malawian girl named Mercy James, whom Madonna met one year ago at an orphanage in Malawi, The Mail reported. “The recent marriage rows led Guy and Madonna to have a heart-to-heart meeting in New York,” said a friend, according to th report. “They asked themselves whether they were staying together for the sake of the children or because they wanted to be with each other”.

“Guy came back to the UK and began to plan the big Madonna’s 50th birthday. He wanted to get her the one thing she really wanted. And the one thing that she has really put on hold for him has been adopting another child”. Malawian official Mr. Penstone Kilembe, who is responsible for the adoption of little Mercy James, declared that the adoption of the child is now advanced: “all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities. Then Mercy will be able to leave the country for a new life”.

Damas-designed Kohl magazine, ITP Lifestyle magazine catering to Asian women goes to its bejeweled cover page featuring Katrina Kaif captured by celebrity photographer Avinash Gowariker. It has partnered with leading UAE-based jeweller Damas to create the world’s most expensive magazine. Covered in 91 grams of gold and encrusted with 622 diamonds, the special edition front cover, valued at more than US$ 10,000, is to be auctioned for the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre in October 2008. The gold-slapped cover of Kohl respects Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif, who was voted the Sexiest Woman by a famous international magazine.

“I am very proud and excited to be involved with this project,” says Katrina, “it is a wonderful idea and all for a very worthwhile cause,” the 23-year-old actress added. In order to create the gold edition of Kohl, Damas craftsmen took more than 86 hours to hand-apply layers of gold leaf to a specially-treated edition of the original magazine. Beyond the gilded front cover, the world’s most costly magazine issue retains all of its original content, making it an ideal display item or one-off gift for either a humanitarian or devoted fan of Kaif. The special edition of the magazine was unveiled for the very first time at an official press conference on 24 June, in the Borders outlet in Mall of the Emirates. Readership numbers show that a significant portion of Kohl fans buy their copies monthly from Borders, and the book and magazine chain also eagerly embraced the opportunity to support this charitable initiative.
