MasterCard and Kazkommertsbank, the second largest bank in Kazakhstan, together are bringing a MasterCard credit card festooned with gold and diamonds. Called ‘Diamond,’ this diamond card features a 0.02-carat gem in its centre and a picture of a peacock for female cardholders and a winged horse for men. The card will be issued within two weeks and the annual fee would be $1,000.

Targeted at the VVIP customers, only 1000 cards are to be issued starting November 13. Around 30 cards will be issued every month. And each of the lavish credit cards will have a credit limit of $50,000, which is nearly $20,000 higher than the highest limit on some MasterCard platinum cards.

Recently 2 most expensive diamonds were sold in New York. The Ponahalo diamonds, from a 316.15-carat piece of rough mined in South Africa, were sold for more than $6 million at a Christie’s. They were sold to a Middle Eastern buyer. However, the winning bidder Mr Amer Radwan of Dubai later revealed the buyers name.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Ponahalo diamonds will be donated to Russell Simmons’ Diamond Empowerment Fund, benefiting educational programs in Africa.

Industry veteran Steven Goldstein, the co-founder of Goldkenn, one of the great confectionery successes in duty free, is returning to the sector with New York-based luxury accessories brand DEOS. Founded by jewelry designer Allison Lee Zeiss, DEOS offers interchangeable diamond- and crystal-encrusted earphone covers for the Apple iPod and iPhone. DEOS earphone covers come in three collections – DEOS Diamond, CVRZ with Swarovski crystals, and the CVRZ aluminum range – each targeting a particular price segment.

Each piece is handcrafted and hand-set – at a price. You can choose from the three options available - diamond studded, if you are running high on your earnings, Swarovski crystals, if you are just about there and the aluminum encrusted, if you wish to spend enough to be in the race. The diamond-encrusted one is obviously the most expensive with a price tag of $60,000.
