Founded by John Ross of the Clan Ross in 1790, Balblair is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland and undoubtedly one of the most attractive small distilleries still remaining today. The Distillery currently offers a considerable selection of award winning Single Highland malts, all unique in their distinct character, taste and aroma. Today the Ross legacy of the area lives on as four out of the seven current employees share the surname Ross. Balblair whisky is a creation of the Elements. The air in Edderton on the Dornoch Firth, where Balblair is distilled, is considered to be refreshing and clear. Air that has rushed through bristling coastal pinewoods, investing it with freshness. It is this Fourth Element - the air - combined with the other elements, that gives 16-year old Balblair its smooth, delicate, refreshing taste. Nose: Clean, fresh spiciness with a slight nutty fragrance. Colour: Mid amber with gold highlights. Taste: Medium to full bodied, sweet and lightly fruity with a slight toffee character. Price: $56.93, 3 for $162.24, 6 for $307.38, 12 for $580.68. Via: luxist |
