Luxury food & drinks pictures: Blablair Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Founded by John Ross of the Clan Ross in 1790, Balblair is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland and undoubtedly one of the most attractive small distilleries still remaining today. The Distillery currently offers a considerable selection of award winning Single Highland malts, all unique in their distinct character, taste and aroma. Today the Ross legacy of the area lives on as four out of the seven current employees share the surname Ross.

Balblair whisky is a creation of the Elements. The air in Edderton on the Dornoch Firth, where Balblair is distilled, is considered to be refreshing and clear. Air that has rushed through bristling coastal pinewoods, investing it with freshness. It is this Fourth Element - the air - combined with the other elements, that gives 16-year old Balblair its smooth, delicate, refreshing taste. Nose: Clean, fresh spiciness with a slight nutty fragrance. Colour: Mid amber with gold highlights. Taste: Medium to full bodied, sweet and lightly fruity with a slight toffee character. Price: $56.93, 3 for $162.24, 6 for $307.38, 12 for $580.68.

Luxury food pictures: Erté Courvoisier Cognac Collection

Courvoisier is selling off the very last sets of its rare bottles designed by famed Art Deco artist and fashion illustrator Erté 20 years ago. The legendary cognac house commissioned the seven bottle set from the Russian-born artist for its extraordinary blend of precious Grande Champagne cognacs, some dating back to 1892.

The last remaining sets which had been held in reserve will now be sold for $10,000 apiece; only eight of them are making their way to the U.S. market in November. Each of the seven bottles’ designs represents a different facet of the cognac making process.

Most expensive champagne in Moscow

An exclusive luxury hotel in Russia is selling bottles of most expensive champagne that have sat on a seabed for over 80 years. Over two hundred bottles of 1907 vintage champagne are on sale at the Carlton Ritz in Moscow for £156,000 a bottle. The bubbly had initially been sent to the Russian Royal family in 1916 by the Heidsieck vineyard.

The Carlton Ritz Hotel, which charges over £10,000 per night for a room, bought all the bottles and they are now seen as the “ultimate show-off” drink for millionaire businessmen. It was recently reported by the Mirror that a champagne which retails in supermarket Waitrose won the over £10 category of the champagne vintage Decanter World Wine Awards 2008. The £24.99 a bottle beverage beat competitors which cost almost 30 times more.
