Phase One P65+ is world’s first full-frame 65 Mpx medium format photo sensor. Phase One’s P65+ digital back matches the size of a standard piece of 645 film at 40.4 X 54.9mm—a first for digital sensors. One place where film photography still has an edge over digital is in medium- and large-format cameras—until today, the largest sensor available still didn’t match the size of the smallest medium-format film available. Sensor resolution is 60.5 Megapixel with 8984 x 6732 active pixels achieving 180 MB, 8 bit RGB files. P 65+ digital back and the P 65+ camera system based on Sensor+ CCD technology co-developed with DALSA Semiconductor. The chip platform offers the most demanding photographers upgradeable CCD functions, ensuring a longer lifespan for their digital back investments
Medium format is used by a lot of pros for its increased dynamic range, depth of field control, and of course, resolution. Of course all this megapixel and fine photography goodness costs megabucks too with the P 65+ digital back starting at $39,900 and the P 65+ camera system starting at $41,990 and if you want it, you might be able to get when sometime in Q4 this year.
