Waterfront living is getting really popular among the luxury circles.

New development on that front is from Oceanic-Creations, a Swedish based company, which has unveiled plans to build floating commercial and residential buildings around the world with the help of a new composite material. The company’s first project is of this floating pyramid named the “Maya Hotel” is estimated to cost around $209 million and will be located south of Cancun, Mexico, on the Caribbean Sea. The floating buildings will feature built-in insulation that makes the constructions suitable for all types of climate, from the freezing cold to extreme heat. The company also plans to build floating offices, factories, casinos, student dorms & hotels in future. The Maya hotel is expected to open by 2010.

This is the first time I have covered a watch from Maurice de Mauriac, a Swiss brand of luxury watches.

Daniel Dreifuss, the brand’s designer, works with his wife, the painter and stylist Claudia Ginocchio. The company makes a limited number of watches with pleasingly classic styles. I haven’t been able to find a lot of information about this brand but the watch shown here, the skeleton Tonneau XL chronometer uses the automatic ETA caliber 7750 movement with COSC-certification as a chronometer. It has a 40mm stainless steel case with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal with a display back. The watch isn’t the easiest to read but I rather like the way the underlying date dial peeks out under the other dials.
